Skinny Fat

I FINALLY saw the media do a piece on what I like to call “slim jims”. In my vocabulary, a “slim jim” is when someone appears skinny on the outside, but is all fat on the inside (SOFI). It is caused by a sedentary lifestyle, and restricted calories.

I have known too many people living in Los Angeles/Hollywood doing this. A former friend even went so far to start going to the gym, but did not like when she started building muscle (and actually getting a shapely body). She was happy just being skinny fat than having a tight, muscular ass.

Everyone focuses on people that are clearly fat. But an overweight person that is active (meaning they at very least try to exercise on a consistent basis) are considerably healthier than a “slim jim”. Obesity is a problem in this nation, but looks can be deceiving, and “never judge a book by its cover”.

And just as a side note: I would rather enjoy a burger on a regular basis and have to ride a few more miles on my bike than not do anything and not eat anything. Just as food rules a morbidly obese person’s life, the rule applies to “slim jims” too.
